on a sunny day
As a native Texan, you acclimatize to a very specific range of weather conditions which span very generously from “unseasonably hot” to “unbearably hot” through a typical year. While this makes everyday things like being outside, wearing clothes, or existing outside the effective range of air conditioning a struggle, you eventually begin to realize “unseasonably hot” is about as cold as it gets, and with that new perspective you can begin to enjoy the endless summer. Or, at least, to try.
And, so, we present the next installation in our weekly sound pack series — three environmental recordings on a sunny day deep in the heart of the Central Texas Hill Country. Recorded on the backcountry trails of Pedernales Falls State Park, this pack features cicadas buzzing in a juniper grove and two mornings of bird song in the oak woodlands of the Edwards Plateau.
