opening day

When we started on this adventure, I won’t deny I felt we were at the precipice of something, despite our determination and discipline, that was possibly insurmountable. Yet, nearly a year later, despite the challenges, setbacks, and frustrations, here we proudly present: the Austin Audio Laboratory!

And I’m so glad to be doing it from right here in Austin, Texas. I was lucky to grow up here, and to have had the opportunity to explore so many different celebrated arts and musical acts in the city as I did. Living in Austin comes, I think, with an uninterrupted awareness of the many musical artists, performances, venues, and fans that represent the city’s creative ecology. It’s inspiring, and intimidating, and always incredibly exhilarating and, as a musician, it was a profound shift in my life when I started contributing to that ecosystem.

So when Mark and I decided to start this enterprise, I knew we were starting something really damn good.

So who are we? Well Mark and I have been musical collaborators for years and great friends for just a little bit longer than that. We’ve been through at least five performing bands, two albums, two podcasts, and even a few performances across the continental United States. Feeling the ways we felt about sound and music, and knowing we worked well together, it just made sense to make some noise of our own.

The Austin Audio Laboratory is our passion project and our declaration to pursue the things we love and put our best effort into sharing that with everyone we’re able. What do we do? We make music. We make sounds. We try to capture the intangible appeal and the quantifiable art of sound and music. We create art in sound and the tools to help others create their own. From podcasts, to music, to sound effects and design, we’re dedicated to producing our own original content and to help you, in whatever capacity you might need, produce your own audio project at our high standard of quality.
